____ Short film
Project overview •
We made this short fiction film for Kino Lyon's monthly competition, on the theme of "you should never have known".
The plot begins by depicting the protagonist's daily routine, a familiar and repetitive environment. We wanted to capture this normality through carefully composed sequences that illustrate the monotony and rituals of everyday life. This immerses the viewer in this banality, creating a strong contrast with the rest of the story.
The disruptive element comes in the form of a car accident. From that moment on, the protagonist is confronted with a series of troubling revelations. What he discovers overturns his perception of his own existence and those around him. The nature of this revelation, which he should never have known, becomes the pivotal point of the plot.
Process •
We worked with a small team of 4 people to make the job easier. As the delivery time was 1 month, we had to be efficient. That's why this small team enabled us to make rapid progress while ensuring image quality.
Our visual approach is distinguished by a different artistic style. By exploring a variety of framing, lighting and editing techniques, we have sought to accentuate the contrast between the initial everyday life and the destabilising world that follows.
This project allowed us to push our creativity and explore the possibilities offered by fiction to tell a poignant story. We wanted to show how an unexpected revelation can turn an ordinary life upside down and make us rethink our concept of reality.
